Tip wraps do not strictly line up, indicating a likely replacement. One tip is scarfed about 6” down. The mid is scarfed at the small end. Both scarfs are hardly visible. The varnish looks mainly original. Ferrules are quality machined-welt with a little varnish overrun. Markings state rod name and 8’ – 3-1/2 (oz.). Strap and ring hookkeeper, 6” half Wells cork grip (smooth but darkened), cork reel seat, cap and ring with worn bluing. Original bag and tube. This is a rare high-grade Amherst that will handle a 5 weight line capably, possibly also a 6. A rod with a history to tell and fishing to do. $ 550.00.
