Ray Ashley 7’ 3” 2 piece 1 tip 4.7 oz. rod with 13/64” ferrule. The rod has a staggered ferrule placed above the halfway point. The tip is 40” long; the butt is 47-3/4” long. Varnish is good, not showing much wear. Female ferrule is machined; male looks drawn. Wraps are fancy with chrome guides, gold main wraps, 3 black tipping wraps each side, gold standoff wraps. The blank has a distinct swelled butt. Strap and ring hookkeeper, nickel silver winding check, 6-1/2” reverse half Wells grip, nickel silver screw downlocking reel seat with butterscotch plastic spacer. Original bag and tube. Ray Ashley was a barber in Endicott, New York, who made rods for a local market that included Catskill fishers.
